Manage multiple price lists for different wholesale buyer groups and set up progressive discounts based on purchase volume. The differentiated pricing system is one of VentasxMayor's core features, designed specifically for the needs of wholesale commerce where each customer can have different commercial terms.
How it works
Price lists let you define different prices for the same product depending on the type of wholesale buyer. Each business can create multiple price lists and assign them to specific customers. When a wholesale buyer with an assigned list logs into the portal, they automatically see the prices corresponding to their commercial agreement.
This solves a fundamental need in wholesale commerce: a distributor can have different prices for small retailers, store chains, high-volume buyers, or customers in different regions -- all without duplicating products in the catalog.
From the price lists tab in the product form, you can set a specific price for each active list. If a product does not have a price defined in a particular list, the general product price is shown.
Discount tiers work as progressive discounts based on purchase volume. The more units purchased, the higher the discount percentage applied. These tiers are configured by quantity ranges and are applied automatically at checkout. This mechanism encourages wholesale buyers to place larger orders, a standard practice in wholesale selling.
Additionally, each product can have a promotional price that is displayed alongside the regular price, visually highlighting the offer to the wholesale buyer.
Available options
Price lists: Create as many lists as you need to cover your commercial structure. Each list is assigned to one or more wholesale buyers from the customer management section. Common examples in the sector: list for retailers, list for sub-distributors, list for chains, list by geographic region, list for new buyers.
Discount tiers: Define quantity ranges with their corresponding discount percentage. For example: 10% from 50 units, 15% from 100 units, 20% from 500 units. This allows buyers who place larger wholesale orders to automatically receive better terms.
Promotional price: Set a temporary sale price on the product form to signal special promotions, stock clearances, or seasonal discounts.
Tips
- Design your price lists to reflect your actual commercial structure. A typical wholesaler may have between 3 and 10 lists to cover their different channels and customer types.
- Discount tiers are ideal for encouraging higher-volume purchases. Configure ranges that make sense for your business: selling screws by the hundreds is not the same as selling appliances by the unit.
- Combine price lists with discount tiers: a wholesale buyer can have a personalized base list and still access additional volume discounts within that same list.
- The promotional price is displayed by crossing out the original price, which creates a stronger visual impact and clearly communicates the opportunity to your wholesale buyers.
- Periodically review your price lists to ensure they reflect current costs and desired margins. ERP synchronization can help keep prices updated automatically.
