In addition to the volume discount, the engine covers all the classic promotions. Each one is a type of effect you choose in the last step of the wizard. Here they all are, along with when each one is a good fit.
Percentage, fixed amount or fixed price
The three most direct effects, on the scope you choose (products, categories, variants or the whole cart):
- Percentage: a % discount. E.g.: 15% on the Beverages category.
- Fixed amount: subtracts a fixed value (e.g.: $500). If there are several products in the scope, the amount is distributed proportionally among them.
- Fixed price: sets the unit price of the products in the scope. E.g.: "this item at $850 per unit".
2x1, 3x2 and NxM
For every N units, M are free (or discounted). 2x1 = you take 2 and pay for 1; 3x2 = you take 3 and pay for 2.
- It can apply to the whole cart or to the same product (3 units of the same item).
- You choose which unit the benefit falls on: usually the cheapest (the "cheapest one free" style).
Combos
Several products together at a fixed total price. E.g.: "choose 3 products from this selection for $999".
- It's built with groups: you define which products or categories are included and how many units are needed to complete the combo.
- The combo only applies when it's complete. If products are missing, the store shows the progress ("you have 2 of 3").
Free or discounted shipping
A discount on the shipping cost (100% = free), usually tied to a minimum amount condition on the cart. E.g.: "free shipping over $50.000".
- The shipping savings are communicated separately and do not add to the "you saved $X" on products.
- In the store, the customer sees how much they're missing to reach it ("you need $5.000 more for free shipping").
Cross-sell
"Buy product A and get product B at a discount." E.g.: buy a laptop and get the bag at 30% off.
- You define the product that triggers it (A) and the product that receives the discount (B).
- In the store it's communicated as an opportunity on A and/or B.
Gift
"Get X free." The customer must add the suggested product to the cart to activate it (it's not added automatically). Once it's in the cart, you discount it (for example, 100%).
- The store suggests adding the gift; the engine applies the discount once it's present.

Also define who it applies to, when and how it combines with other promotions. And before publishing, test it in the Simulator.
