Connect your MercadoPago account to receive online payments from your wholesale buyers securely and automatically.
How it works
The MercadoPago integration uses OAuth: you only need to authorize the connection from your MercadoPago account, without sharing credentials. Once connected, buyers who pick a MercadoPago payment method see the payment button directly in your store's checkout.
The connection works in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. The currency and domain are detected automatically based on your business's country.
Enable and disable the integration
- Go to the Wholesale settings, payments and shipping section.
- In the "Online payments with Mercado Pago" block, click Enable and follow the steps in MercadoPago.
- When you come back, your account is linked and online payments are active automatically.
- To disconnect, use the same place: the button switches to Disable and cuts the integration instantly.
How MercadoPago is offered at checkout
Payment methods you create whose name contains the words "Mercado Pago" trigger the online payment button at checkout. If a method does not include those words, buyers see it as a regular offline option (transfer, deposit, etc.).
This lets you have several variants at the same time β for example, "Mercado Pago" with one surcharge, and "Mercado Pago 3 installments" with another β and all of them redirect to the MercadoPago checkout.
Payment statuses on orders
When the integration is active, the Orders screen adds an online payment column with four statuses, and a filter to list orders by each one:
- ACREDITADO (paid in full): the buyer completed the payment and the paid amount matches the order total.
- INCOMPLETO (incomplete): there is a balance owed. It happens when the buyer did not finish paying, or when you edited the order and added products that created a balance to collect.
- EXCEDENTE (overpaid): there is a balance in the buyer's favor. It happens when you edited the order and removed products after the payment was already made.
- RESUELTO (resolved): you decided to handle the payment outside MercadoPago (for example, bank transfer) and turned off online collection for the order.
Operations from an order
Inside an order with online collection enabled, you can:
- Request the pending balance: if the order is INCOMPLETO, the system generates a payment link and emails it to the buyer. You can also copy the link and send it via WhatsApp or any other channel. When the buyer pays, the order moves to ACREDITADO automatically.
- Refund: if the order is EXCEDENTE or you need to cancel a paid order, the refund button returns the money to the buyer's account and sends them an email confirming the refund.
- Cancel Collect Online: if you decide to settle the payment by another method, turn off online collection on the order. If there were already associated payments, the order moves to RESUELTO.
Surcharges and discounts
You can attach a surcharge or discount to each MercadoPago payment method, just like any other method. It is applied to the order total when the buyer picks that option at checkout.
Tips
- Make sure your MercadoPago account is verified before connecting it.
- If you rename a payment method and remove the words "Mercado Pago", it stops redirecting to the online checkout β use this to turn options on or off quickly.
- Check the online payment column filter every day: INCOMPLETO and EXCEDENTE flag orders that need action (collect a balance or issue a refund).
- Before voiding a paid order, use the refund button on the order to return the money β do not cancel online collection without refunding, otherwise the buyer is left with the charge.
